You’ll notice some of the plants we offer are tagged as an “OK Ecotype”. This mean that that species originates from a seed gathered in Oklahoma. Why does this matter? Essentially, it means that the species is especially adapted to this—our climate. One of goals at Prairie Flora Co. is to continue to offer more plants grown from Oklahoma ecotype seed.

A "plug" refers to a young plant cultivated in a multi-cell flat. A significant contrast between a 2” plug and a typical 4” potted plant available in retail settings lies in the space allotted for root development. At our nursery, we exclusively use 5” deep cell trays, ensuring ample room for robust root growth—a crucial factor for the healthy establishment of prairie plants.
